Shea Properties Announces Grand Opening of Vons at The Marketplace at Windingwalk in Chula Vista, CA

CHULA VISTA (Nov. 20, 2008) – Shea Properties, a leading investment real estate company headquartered in Aliso Viejo, Calif., announced today the completion of construction and grand opening of a 55,984-square-foot Vons within The Marketplace at Windingwalk, an approximately 104,000-square-foot neighborhood shopping center in Chula Vista, Calif. Situated on nine acres at the gateway to Windingwalk, a master-planned community being developed by Brookfield Homes and Shea Homes, The Marketplace at Windingwalk is located at the southeast corner of Eastlake Parkway and Birch Road. Vons anchors the center and offers the community a US Bank branch and a full-service pharmacy in addition to a wide range of fresh fruits and vegetables, baked-daily breads and pastries, butcher-shop meats and seafood, floral arrangements and a variety of other grocery items. Stewart Keith of Flocke & Avoyer Commercial Real Estate, the exclusive leasing agent for the property, represented Shea Properties in all the transactions. Other openings anticipated in early 2009 include Achiote Mexican restaurant, Tutti Fruitti soft-serve yogurt and Happy Nails. Plans for the mixed-use center also include 43 work-loft homes offering home business opportunities on the ground floor and living space on the second story.

The Marketplace at Windingwalk offers a vibrant, Irving Gill-inspired architecture in an upscale and inviting atmosphere. Intimate courtyards and plazas strategically located within the Marketplace feature an outdoor fireplace and fountain offering pleasant respites where people can experience outdoor dining, have a sandwich or yogurt, or just plain relax and enjoy the surroundings.
